Facebook Fundamentals for Contractor Marketing

A simple blue icon with the letter “F” inscription has become one of the most recognizable companies in the world. Now, businesses are using Facebook as a marketing platform to help them grow.

It’s no different when marketing for contractors. Are you on Facebook? Do you know how to properly market your company and how to best optimize your page?

Facebook fundamentals

Facebook is at your disposal to do anything you want, but not using it effectively could be detrimental to your business.

Like learning a new sport, fundamentals lay a solid foundation where achieving success can be that much easier.

The Basics

Facebook is laid out for you to be as simple as possible, so treat it that way. Here are four basic fundamentals to get you started.

  • Informationtake time to make sure ALL pertinent business information is listed on your page. Name, address, website, email, phone. Any kind of contact information where your customers can reach you needs to be listed.
  • PicturesUsing imagery is the best way to engage with potential customers. Be sure to have high-quality images where pixelation isn’t blurry. Here are some standards to follow when posting images:
    • Profile Image: 160 x 160
    • Cover Image: 851 x 315
    • News Feed Image: 1200 x 1200
    • Shared Link Preview: 1200 x 628
    • Shared Video Preview: 504 x 283
  • Linksonce you have the link posted, the preview will show up letting you know it’s ready for views. Once it generates that preview, remove the link from the post. A link on top of the same link looks funny. Make sure you have URL’s link to the corresponding photo. If your link is really long, it’s important to have it shortened to keep it looking tidy. Tinyurl.com is a great shortening service.
  • When to postyou will have to experience some trial and error here to see what works best for your industry. For maximizing your reach, the general rule of thumb says to post between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., with the most shares being achieved at 1 p.m. and the most clicks around 3 p.m.

To receive the most engagement from potential customers, produce longer posts. Check out this great posting Infographic that Quicksprout put together.

Monitoring Your Numbers

Now that you have your Facebook page all set up, don’t let it run stagnant. A successful Facebook page needs to be nourished.

Early and often is a great rule to follow. Check statistics and analyze your numbers carefully. Know your business inside and out.

Your customers will identify, trust, and appreciate your knowledge in the industry and be more likely to end up as a future customer.
