Don’t Stop Marketing Just Because You’re Busy

contractor marketing during busy seasonSpring is in full swing. The weather is warmer and your business line is ringing off the hook. Suddenly, your services are in demand and you can hardly keep up. We feel your pain.

Welcome to the busy season! As a contractor business owner, this is a fantastic problem to have. But, it is a problem none-the-less. As soon as we get busy, little things, like marketing, fall by the wayside.

Common sense says, the reason you are experiencing a busy season, at least in part, is because winter was slower and you had time to focus on your marketing then. You see, marketing is your way of planting seeds that will be ready to harvest after this current busy season subsides.

If I could offer a single piece of advice, it would be this: Don’t stop marketing just because you’re busy!

Good Contractor Marketing is Really About Three Things

Your contractor marketing strategy might be the only thing that keeps you focused on your marketing goals when things get crazy-busy. Whatever genius marketing ideas you’ve come up with, there are three things you need to keep in mind.

  1. Good marketing is consistent. The branding is consistent across all media platforms. The story you are telling is consistent. And, your activity online should be consistent as well.
  2. Good marketing is engaging. It allows your potential customers to join in the larger conversation you are having within your industry. Everybody innately wants to connect to a story, a character.
  3. Good marketing is really about listening. What are your customers asking for? What do they need/want? How can you offer helpful solutions? Listen to them!

If you are really listening to your customers and engaging them in a consistent conversation, your busy season might never be over!

I’ve Created a Checklist

Pro tip: Give yourself a headstart on your marketing efforts by setting aside time in your calendar each week to implement your plans. Most of the time, when we put something off, it quickly becomes overwhelming. Contractor Marketing is usually the first thing to go and the hardest thing to recover, once we’ve let it slide.

I have one more thing I’d like to share with you. Download the “Inbound Marketing Checklist” for more details on the nitty-gritty of inbound marketing… even if you are in the middle of your busiest season yet!
