Contractor Marketing 2-Minute Tuesday: Blogging for Contractors

Welcome to Contractor Marketing Two-Minute Tuesday. I’m Brodie Tyler with Inbound Systems and I’m bringing you the quickest, most valuable, and most profitable two minutes of your week!

Today, in under 2 minutes, I’m answering the question, “Will Blogging Help My Contracting Business?”

Ready, Set, Go!

Ok, so on the surface you wouldn’t think that writing articles and posting them on your blog would have anything to do with your contracting business. But, it does! And it can benefit you in a couple different ways.

One – with engagement and
Two – with visibility

I’m going to work backwards here and start with visibility. Every time you write a blog post, it adds a new page to your website and when it comes to the search engines like Google, the more pages that you have the more pages they index and store in their database about you, your website and your company.

So, let me ask, would you rather have one page indexed in Google or a ton of pages indexed in Google? That’s one of the major benefits of blogging is that the more that you blog, the more pages you have in Google and the more visibility you’ll get in the search engines.

The other benefit is engagement. When you have your content that you’re publishing on your blog, you’re engaging with your audience. They’re reading your website. You’re increasing your expertise, you’re setting yourself up as an expert in whatever niche your contracting business is in and it helps you set yourself apart from the competition.

It also helps you to monopolize your audience’s time. So if they’re on your website, they’re not on your competitors!

And it helps you to educate them, it helps you to prepare your audience so that when the time really does come for them to buy, the buying cycle is shortened.

I have just a little bit of time left, so let me give you 3 quick tips:

One: Optimize your blog content for your audience, don’t worry about Google so much as optimizing it for your visitors.

Two: As a contracting business, you want to blog at least once a week.

Three: You want to end each blog post with a Call-to-Action. Ask the visitor to do something at the end; whether it’s for a free estimate or to give you a call.
That’s it! Thanks for watching today’s “Contractor Marketing Two-Minute Tuesday”!
